Bathroom Floor Renewal & Mixer Tap Replacement β Marsh Head, London
Project Overview
British Builders was appointed to carry out bathroom remedial and finishing works at a residential property on Marsh Head, London.
The original scope allowed for replacing a small number of damaged bathroom floor tiles, but inspection found wider damage across the room, with approximately 18 cracked, loose or defective tiles. As matching tiles were not available, the full bathroom floor was replaced to create one consistent and professional finish.
During the same attendance, the leaking bathroom mixer tap was removed and replaced to restore proper function and reduce the risk of further water damage. The works included tile removal, floor preparation, new tiling, tap replacement, finishing and final checks.
Scope of Work
- Inspection of bathroom floor tiles and surrounding finishes
- Identification of cracked, loose and defective floor tiles
- Review of partial repair option against wider tile damage
- Removal of existing damaged bathroom floor tiles
- Preparation and cleaning of the floor base before re-tiling
- Supply and installation of new bathroom floor tiles in one consistent finish
- Cutting and fitting around bath, basin, toilet and bathroom edges
- Finishing of floor edges, junctions and threshold areas
- Removal and replacement of leaking bathroom mixer tap
- Reconnection, water testing and leak checks after installation
- Bathroom clean-down, waste removal and final inspection
Challenges & Solutions
- Wider tile damage β The damage was more extensive than first expected, so the scope was upgraded to a full floor renewal.
- No matching tiles β Full floor replacement avoided a patchy or mismatched repair finish.
- Bathroom edges and fittings β Tiles were cut and finished carefully around sanitaryware and junctions.
- Leaking mixer tap β The defective tap was replaced and tested to prevent further water-related issues.
- Compact bathroom space β The tiling, plumbing and finishing works were sequenced carefully in the limited working area.
Final Outcome
The bathroom floor repair was successfully upgraded from a limited tile replacement into a complete bathroom floor renewal.
The new floor provides a cleaner, safer and more consistent finish across the room, with edges and junctions completed neatly around the existing sanitaryware.
The leaking mixer tap was replaced, connected and tested for correct operation. The bathroom was left clean, tidy, functional and ready for continued use.
