Bathroom Works — Rotherham
Project Overview
British Builders attended a residential property on Rencliffe Avenue, Rotherham, to complete a set of bathroom and kitchen appliance maintenance works. The job included replacing the bathroom extractor fan, repairing and redecorating the bathroom ceiling, and removing and installing an integrated washing machine.
The photos show moisture-related damage and peeling paint to the bathroom ceiling, the bathroom ventilation area, and the kitchen appliance space before and after the washing machine installation. Our engineer carried out the works as a combined maintenance visit, addressing both the ventilation issue and the affected decorative surfaces, while also completing the appliance replacement and testing.
The works helped improve bathroom ventilation, restore the ceiling finish, and return the kitchen appliance area to proper working order.
Scope of Work
- Inspected the bathroom extractor fan and existing ventilation setup.
- Removed the old bathroom extractor fan safely.
- Supplied and installed a new compatible extractor fan.
- Checked the fan connection and tested operation after installation.
- Prepared the bathroom ceiling by removing loose, flaking and moisture-damaged paint.
- Cleaned and treated the affected ceiling areas prior to decoration.
- Applied mould-resistant primer to help protect the surface from future moisture-related damage.
- Repainted the bathroom ceiling with suitable mould-resistant paint for a clean and durable finish.
- Safely disconnected the old integrated washing machine from the water, waste and electrical connections.
- Removed the old washing machine from the kitchen appliance space.
- Checked the appliance void, surrounding cabinets and connection points before fitting the replacement unit.
- Supplied and installed a new HOTPOINT BI WMHG 71483 UK N Integrated 7 kg 1400 Spin Washing Machine.
- Connected the new appliance to the water supply, drainage and electrical outlet.
- Aligned the integrated unit within the kitchen cabinetry and checked access panels and doors.
- Ran operational checks to confirm the washing machine was working correctly.
- Disposed of the old appliance responsibly and removed leftover packaging and debris.
- Cleaned all affected work areas after completion.
Challenges & Solutions
- The bathroom ceiling showed visible peeling and moisture damage, so the area needed proper preparation before repainting rather than a simple touch-up.
- The extractor fan replacement was important to help improve airflow and reduce the risk of recurring damp or mould issues.
- The integrated washing machine required careful removal and refitting within the existing kitchen cabinetry to avoid damage to surrounding units.
- All water and waste connections were checked and tested to confirm the new appliance was operating correctly.
Final Outcome
The bathroom extractor fan was replaced, the ceiling was treated and redecorated with a mould-resistant finish, and the new integrated washing machine was installed and tested. The kitchen appliance area was restored, the bathroom ceiling was left with a cleaner finish, and the property was left tidy on completion.
