Damp Treatment, Wall Repairs and Redecoration — Cadogan Street, Hull
Project Overview
British Builders attended a residential property on Cadogan Street in Hull to complete damp treatment, wall repairs and redecoration works.
The affected rooms showed visible moisture damage, including stained walls, blown plaster, damaged lower wall sections and deterioration around skirting level and socket areas. The works were completed as a full remedial repair rather than a simple repaint.
Damaged plaster was stripped back, contaminated areas were cleaned and treated, and exposed wall sections were prepared for reinstatement. Damp-proof treatment and anti-fungal solution were applied before the walls were repaired, smoothed, primed and redecorated with a clean mould-resistant finish.
Scope of Work
- Inspection of visible damp and moisture-affected wall areas
- Protection of flooring, furniture, sockets and surrounding finishes
- Removal of loose, damaged and damp-affected plaster
- Cleaning and preparation of exposed wall backgrounds
- Application of damp-proof and anti-fungal treatment
- Repair and reinstatement of damaged wall sections
- Making good around sockets, corners, returns and skirting areas
- Levelling and smoothing of repaired surfaces
- Application of stain-blocking primer and mould-resistant finish
- Final inspection, clean-down and waste removal
Challenges & Solutions
- Visible damp staining — Affected areas were stripped back instead of being painted over.
- Blown plaster — Loose material was removed to expose a stable repair background.
- Moisture around sockets — Electrical areas were protected and made good carefully.
- Contaminated lower walls — Damp-affected sections were treated before reinstatement.
- Mould and bacteria — Affected areas were treated with anti-fungal solution before decoration.
- Clean finish — Stain-blocking primer and repainting helped blend repaired areas with the room.
Final Outcome
The damp treatment, wall repair and redecoration works were completed successfully.
Damaged plaster was removed, exposed surfaces were treated, and the affected walls were rebuilt using suitable repair materials. Skirting-level sections, corners, socket areas and visible damaged patches were made good.
The repaired areas were primed and redecorated, leaving the rooms cleaner, brighter and ready for normal use.
Client Feedback
“The damp damage looked much worse before the repair, but British Builders handled the work properly from start to finish. The walls were stripped, treated and redecorated, and the rooms now look clean and presentable again.” – Property Client
