Kitchen Damp Repair β€” Wistaston

Project Overview

British Builders completed kitchen improvement and damp protection works at a property on Windermere Road, Wistaston. The work focused on the kitchen sink and window area, where the existing worktop and lower section had signs of water damage, staining and deterioration.

The photos show the damaged worktop section removed, exposed plumbing and pipework below the sink area, affected surfaces around the window and tiled splashback, and the repaired kitchen area prepared for a cleaner, more durable finish. Although this was a targeted maintenance job, it required careful preparation, damp sealing, worktop fitting and finishing around existing kitchen fixtures.

Scope of Work
  • Inspected the affected kitchen worktop, sink and window surround area.
  • Removed damaged and deteriorated sections around the existing kitchen worktop area.
  • Checked exposed pipework and service access before reinstatement.
  • Prepared damp affected surfaces below the window and behind the kitchen units.
  • Applied suitable damp seal treatment to protect the affected area before finishing.
  • Supplied and installed new kitchen worktops to the designated area.
  • Cut and fitted the worktop neatly around the sink, window and wall returns.
  • Sealed joints and edges to help prevent future water ingress.
  • Supplied and fitted a 1000mm base unit slab with matching plinth.
  • Aligned the new unit section with the surrounding kitchen cabinetry for a tidy finish.

Challenges & Solutions
  • The existing kitchen area showed visible damp and staining below the window β€” affected surfaces were prepared and treated with damp seal before reinstatement.
  • The worktop required careful cutting around the sink and window area β€” edges and joints were finished and sealed to improve durability.
  • Pipework and services were exposed beneath the removed section β€” access was maintained while the new unit and plinth were fitted neatly.
  • The repair needed to blend with the existing kitchen layout β€” the slab, plinth and worktop were aligned with the surrounding cabinetry.

Final Outcome

The damp affected kitchen section was prepared, sealed and protected before the new worktop and base unit components were installed. The kitchen now has a cleaner and more stable working area, with improved protection around the sink, window and worktop joints.

The new worktop, slab and plinth were fitted securely and finished neatly. All working areas were cleaned, and the property was left tidy on completion.
