Toilet and Worktop Repairs — Huddersfield

Project Overview

British Builders carried out combined bathroom and kitchen repair works at a residential property on Highroyd Crescent in Huddersfield. The works focused on two maintenance issues: a worn toilet seat that had failed around the hinge points and a kitchen worktop and sink area affected by deteriorated sealant and moisture exposure.

The visit included removal and replacement of the toilet seat, inspection of the kitchen worktop condition, localised repair to the damaged sink-side area and resealing of joints with sanitary-grade silicone. The works were completed as a practical multi-area maintenance repair to improve usability, presentation and protection against further water ingress.

Scope of Work

• Inspection of the existing toilet seat, hinge points and WC pan compatibility
• Removal and disposal of the worn and failed toilet seat
• Supply and installation of a new heavy-duty soft-close toilet seat
• Fitting of secure hinges and anti-slip fixings for stable operation
• Inspection of the kitchen worktop and sink perimeter sealant
• Removal of deteriorated sealant along the sink and worktop joints
• Localised repair and stabilisation of affected worktop areas where required
• Resealing of sink perimeter and adjoining worktop joints with mould-resistant silicone
• Check of sink fittings and visible under-sink pipework for signs of leakage
• Final testing, clean-down and removal of waste materials from site

Challenges & Solutions

• Failed toilet seat hinge points — The existing seat was removed and replaced with a new soft-close toilet seat, fitted securely and aligned for safe everyday use.
• Moisture risk around the sink and worktop — Deteriorated sealant was removed, affected areas were checked, and the joints were resealed to help prevent further water ingress.
• Existing wear to the worktop edge — The damaged area was repaired and stabilised where possible, improving the condition and presentation of the kitchen surface.
• Working around existing kitchen fittings — Repairs were completed carefully around the sink, hob, worktop edges and surrounding finishes without unnecessary disturbance.

Final Outcome

The toilet seat replacement was completed successfully, with the new seat fitted securely, aligned correctly and tested for stable operation. The bathroom fitting is now suitable for normal daily use.

The kitchen worktop and sink area were repaired and resealed, improving the condition of the affected surface and reducing the risk of further moisture damage. The surrounding areas were checked, waste was removed, and the property was left clean and tidy on completion.
